Why I Started This
Look, I'll be straight with you — I'm obsessed with perfume. Always have been. But growing up in South Africa, designer fragrances felt impossibly out of reach. R3,000+ for a 50ml bottle? That's wild money when you've got rent and load-shedding candles to budget for.
Then I discovered the world of fragrance alternatives — scents that share the same DNA, the same olfactory families, often even similar note pyramids as the big designer names. And honestly? Some of them are just as good, if not better. That's not shade at the designers — it's just the truth of modern perfumery.
So I built Designer Perfume Fragrances to be the resource I wished I had when I started my fragrance journey. No gatekeeping. No snobbery. Just honest, SA-flavoured advice on finding scents that make you feel amazing without emptying your wallet.
How this site is put together, honestly: the catalogue is built from brand information, South African seller listings and the wider fragrance community, then checked and edited by me. Longevity and sillage figures are shown as reported ranges, not my own lab tests. Where I have worn a scent myself, the page says so. If you spot a mistake, tell me and I'll fix it.
