Cuir de Russie is one of those perfumes that makes you sit up straight the moment it touches your skin. You get a brisk opening of bergamot, mandarin and neroli — bright, polished, almost cool — before it eases into a plush floral heart where iris really steals the show. On you, that iris turns beautifully powdery, with jasmine, ylang-ylang and rose adding a soft, old-world glamour rather than anything sweet or obvious. Then the leather arrives, and this is where the magic happens: smoky birch, a touch of styrax, and warm tonka give it that elegant, slightly charred Russian leather feel, while amber smooths the edges so it never becomes harsh.
