The house describes the fragrance as signed by Olivier Cresp, which matters, because Cresp is one of the few living perfumers whose back catalogue genuinely changed how mainstream perfumery smells. He composed Angel for Mugler in 1992, the release that made gourmand a category rather than a curiosity, and Nina for Nina Ricci in 2006. By nature it belongs to winter and to the evening, and on a humid coastal day in Durban it will read as very sweet very quickly. On a dry Highveld winter night it is close to perfect: warm, edible without being juvenile, and unmistakable across a room.
Performance is strong, eight hours plus with real sillage in the first three, and a little goes a long way. The line has since been extended into an intense concentration and other variants, but the original eau de parfum is the reference version and the one most reviews describe. Nothing here has been reformulated; it is a recent composition still in current production.
