When Burberry Goddess became the biggest feminine launch of 2023, everyone knew a Lattafa version was coming. Angham - Arabic for 'melodies' - nails that lavender-and-triple-vanilla DNA, then adds the UAE house's trademark nuclear performance. Where Goddess politely fades by lunch, Angham hums along for ten-plus hours. At under R1,000 it became an instant word-of-mouth hit and one of the best-rated budget releases of 2024. Cosy, sweet, and shockingly convincing for the price.

Ginger and pink pepper give Angham a brief spicy fizz at the top, mandarin adding a flash of juice, but nobody buys this for the opening. Within ten minutes the fragrance becomes what it really is: lavender and vanilla, entwined so tightly that neither dominates. The lavender is the soft, sweet, almost candied kind rather than the sharp herbal version, and praline and cacao sit underneath adding a dry chocolate-nougat quality that gives the sweetness texture instead of just sugar. Jasmine hovers somewhere in the background without ever stepping forward. The dry-down is warm, powdery and comforting, with vanilla thickening into amber and clean musk smoothing the whole thing into something you want to keep smelling on your own wrist.

It is listed as unisex and genuinely wears that way, though it skews feminine on most skin. This is a cold-weather, close-quarters fragrance, ideal for winter evenings, date nights, and any occasion where smelling approachable matters more than smelling impressive. On a hot Highveld afternoon the vanilla can turn heavy, so it is better saved for after sundown in summer.

Performance is very good: eight hours or more is typical, with strong projection for the first two to three hours before it settles into a warm, close cloud. Two sprays is the correct dose.

The clone question is clear-cut here. Angham is widely and consistently identified as Lattafa's interpretation of Burberry Goddess, and the comparison holds up well. Goddess is built on lavender, three types of vanilla and cocoa; Angham follows the same architecture with praline standing in for some of the cocoa richness. The differences are real but not dramatic: Goddess has a smoother, creamier vanilla and a more rounded lavender, while Angham is slightly sharper in the opening and a touch more synthetic in the dry-down. Wearers who own both generally describe it as one of the closer Lattafa interpretations rather than a rough approximation. At a fraction of the Burberry price, and with a 4.45 Fragrantica average from over 5,000 votes, it is among the strongest value propositions the brand has released.

AI Review Summary

Synthesised from fragrance data

Angham opens with a bright, aromatic lift of lavender and ginger before melting into a rich, creamy vanilla caviar heart that feels genuinely luxurious rather than sweet for sweetness's sake. The dry-down is all smooth amber and musk — warm, sultry, and the kind of scent that makes people lean in and ask what you're wearing. Community consensus is strong on this one: many reviewers rate it above its inspiration, Burberry Goddess, largely because the longevity and sillage are exceptional for the price point. It's a brilliant cooler-weather fragrance — wear it to a winter dinner or an evening out when you want a confident, sensual trail without overthinking it. For under R1,000, it's one of the best value orientals on the market right now.
