It is a formal fragrance and a cold-weather one. A Cape winter evening suits it; midsummer would be punishing. It is unisex in practice too, despite the rose, because the nuts, woods and incense pull it well away from anything conventionally pretty.
Performance is at the top of what perfumery offers. Twelve hours or more on skin is routine, the first four hours project heavily, and fabric holds it for weeks rather than days. That concentration demands discipline. One spray is a full wearing and two is close to the maximum any shared space will tolerate.
