Nashi pear and kumquat give this a crisp, almost fizzy start, tart and juicy at the same time, with bergamot lifting the citrus higher. It reads fresh for maybe ten minutes. Then caramel appears, and the whole thing pivots: still bright, but now sweet and slightly sticky, with geranium cutting across the sugar with a rosy, green sharpness that keeps it from tipping into dessert territory. The base is the interesting part, an ambergris-and-musk warmth with oakmoss adding a dry, faintly animalic edge underneath. On skin the finish is sweet and skin-close, with a mineral, salty quality that comes and goes depending on the weather. Both men and women wear it, and it moves comfortably from day into evening. It is well suited to spring and autumn, and on a warm evening the caramel-amber base blooms nicely. In peak summer heat it can become cloying, so one or two sprays rather than four. Performance sits around six to eight hours with moderate projection for the first two, then close to the skin. Reviewers rate it decent rather than exceptional, and it fares noticeably better on fabric. Now the part most buyers actually want: yes, this is routinely sold and discussed as an alternative to Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540, and there is a real family resemblance in the sweet, ambery, slightly synthetic-in-a-good-way sugar signature both share. How close is close, though? Not very, if you know the original well. Baccarat Rouge 540 is airier, more transparent, with a saffron and jasmine glow and a burnt-sugar radiance that hangs in the air. Ana Abiyedh Rouge is fruitier at the top, heavier on caramel, and the mossy base pulls it in a more classical, less futuristic direction. Anyone who has never smelled the Kurkdjian will find this reads as a convincing version of the same idea; anyone who owns it will spot the differences inside a minute. At the price gap involved, that is a fair deal rather than a disappointment.

✍️ Did You Know?

  • Launched in 2016, making it one of the older Lattafa releases still in production, and it predates the brand's social media boom by several years
  • Widely marketed and discussed as a Baccarat Rouge 540 alternative, with review sites placing the resemblance at roughly 80 to 90 percent, though the price difference runs to well over ten times
  • Its white-bottle counterpart, Ana Abiyedh, is instead compared to Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume, a very different, near-single-note musk
  • The name translates roughly from Arabic as "I am white", which is why the red and white flankers exist as a pair
  • Holds a 3.92 out of 5 average from more than 2,700 Fragrantica votes

Spray the heavier scent first, then the lighter one on top. Start with two scents — more than three quickly becomes muddled. Always test on skin first.

AI Review Summary

Synthesised from fragrance data

Ana Abiyedh Rouge opens with a bright citrus lift from bergamot and orange before quickly settling into its true personality — a creamy, powdery vanilla and pear heart that feels genuinely cosy without tipping into sweetness overload. The amber and musk base keep things grounded and skin-close, giving it that warm, almost second-skin quality that makes you want to keep sniffing your own wrist. At an 8.3/10 rating, the community consensus is clear: this punches well above its budget price point, delivering 7 to 9 hours of wear that rivals fragrances costing three times as much. It's a brilliant choice for cooler months — think autumn evenings, office days, or dinner dates where you want to smell quietly expensive without making a statement. If soft powder and smooth vanilla are your comfort zone, this one belongs in your rotation.
