Burberry Her Elixir
Burberry Her was a hit in 2018 because it smelled like a punnet of berries and did not take itself seriously. The Elixir, four years later, is the grown-up version of that joke. Same strawberries, same vanilla, but slower and warmer, with amber and sandalwood underneath to stop it bouncing. It is the bottle you reach for when the original feels too young for where you are going.
Burberry Her Elixir takes the berry-and-vanilla idea of the original Burberry Her and makes it denser. Strawberry and a dark blackberry accord open it, jasmine sits in the middle, and the base is vanilla, amber and sandalwood. Where the 2018 original was bright and a little fizzy, the Elixir is rounder and closer to a dessert, with the woods stopping it from becoming purely sweet.
It is a straightforward fragrance and none the worse for it. Berries, flowers, vanilla, done well. Expect six to ten hours with a noticeable trail in the first two, which makes it better suited to evenings and cooler days than to a hot afternoon in an open-plan office.
If you already own Burberry Her, this is not a replacement. It is the same character in heavier clothes, and having both is a reasonable thing to do rather than a mistake. If you are choosing between them, pick the original for daytime and the Elixir for going out.
Jérôme di Marino and Maïa Lernout composed it and it launched in 2022, which makes it the first Her not built by Francis Kurkdjian, who created the 2018 original before moving to Dior. The bottle is the studded Burberry Her shape in a soft blush glass, not the deep magenta some product photos suggest, and it is sold in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml.
Where to buy it, as at August 2026: Sedgars has the 50ml at R1,720, the lowest price we found. Arc Store runs R2,150 for the 50ml to R2,880 for the 100ml, Ascot Cosmetics has the 100ml at R2,365 down from R2,880, and Edgars lists the 100ml at R2,880 with the 50ml out of stock when we checked. Bash has a gift set at R2,320, and Woolworths stocks all three sizes without printing a price on the listing page.
