Antaeus is one of those Chanel scents that doesn’t ask for attention so much as take it, and on your skin it opens with a sharp, green burst of coriander, sage, lime and bergamot that feels brisk, almost barbershop-clean at first, before the herbal edge settles in. Give it a few minutes and you’ll notice the heart turning more textured: thyme and basil bring a dry, aromatic warmth, while jasmine and a whisper of rose soften the composition without ever making it feel pretty or delicate. The real magic is in the base, where oakmoss, patchouli and labdanum roll in with a dark, leathery depth, plus that animalic castoreum nuance that gives the whole thing its old-school swagger. It projects like a boss and lasts all day and then some, so one or two sprays are plenty. This is not your casual office freshie, but for a winter date night, a dressed-up dinner, or a summer braai after dark, it has serious presence and a confident, grown-man charm.
