Within minutes a strawberry fizz-candy accord takes over, unmistakably sherbet-like, all sugar and sparkle, with gardenia providing a creamy white-floral cushion so the fruit has somewhere soft to sit. The dry-down turns powdery and warm: vanilla, clean musk, a touch of amber and sandalwood giving it a woody backbone that most candy fragrances skip entirely. That base is what saves it from smelling like a children's sweet shop and lets it wear for hours without becoming tiring. This is aimed squarely at younger women and casual wear, and it does that job well. Spring and warm days, shopping, campus, coffee dates. One practical warning: sweet fruity fragrances amplify in heat, so on a hot afternoon or around a braai two sprays will go a lot further than you expect. Three or four is too many. Longevity is decent at around six to eight hours, with the strongest projection in the first two before it settles into a close powdery-vanilla warmth. The Yara line generally performs well and this sits comfortably in the middle of it. Lattafa did not market Yara Candy as a copy of anything, and no established dupe claim exists for it. Reviewers reaching for a reference point most often mention Dior Poison Girl, and the comparison is fair in spirit: both are sweet fruity-vanilla scents with a powdery finish. The differences matter, though. Poison Girl is built around almond and rose, more complex and better blended, while Yara Candy is more literal, fruitier and more obviously a confectionery scent. Treat it as a cheerful alternative in the same mood rather than a replacement. Released in 2024 with a 3.85 average from more than 3,000 Fragrantica votes, it is well liked without being the strongest entry in the range, which is worth knowing if you are choosing between it and the original Yara.
