Paco Rabanne

Futuristic boldness meets timeless masculinity

Founded in 1966, Paco Rabanne launched fragrances in 1969. The house is owned by Spain's Puig Group and is best known for 1 Million (2008) — a gold-bar-shaped bottle that became a top-10 men's fragrance globally. Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo, a Spanish-French designer, pioneered the use of unconventional materials (metal, plastic) in fashion.

The Founder's Story

Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo — known as Paco Rabanne — was born in Spain's Basque Country and fled to France during the Spanish Civil War. He studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts before creating his first fashion collection in 1966: "12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials," made entirely from metal and plastic. This avant-garde, futuristic approach defined the brand's identity and carried through to its bold, attention-grabbing fragrance bottles.
