French Avenue

French Avenue is a Dubai fragrance label that most South Africans met through one bottle: Liquid Brun. Retail listings across the world describe it as the premium, designer-tier line from the same UAE house that makes Fragrance World, and it is often sold under the name “French Avenue by Fragrance World” — although no official corporate page confirming that ownership could be found. What is not in dispute is what the brand does. It builds full-bodied, spicy, sweet, wood-heavy scents that read as far more expensive than they cost, and it prices them where ordinary buyers can actually reach them.

Signature Style

Rich, warm and unapologetically loud. The house style leans on cinnamon, cardamom and orange blossom openings over bourbon vanilla, praline, tonka and smoky woods — the sweet-spicy-woody territory that Middle Eastern perfumery does better than anyone. Performance is the selling point: these are built to last a working day and to be noticed while they do it. Bottle design borrows from French designer houses rather than traditional Khaleeji styling, which is where the name comes from.

Did You Know?

💡

Liquid Brun went viral on fragrance TikTok through clone-hunting reviewers, who pitched it as near-Althair performance for under R700 against roughly R6,000 for the Parfums de Marly original.

💡

| It is often wrongly assumed to be a Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade clone.

💡

The comparison that actually holds is Althair — French Avenue’s Ombre Nomade-style scents are separate releases.

💡

| In South Africa it carries a 4.6 out of 5 rating from more than 150 Takealot buyers.

💡

| Demand was strong enough that the house released a 150ml Limited Edition Extrait de Parfum in 2025.
